名海 维海
- 海,是占地球表面积70.8%的咸水。海洋调节着地球的气候并在水循环、碳循环、氮循环发挥了中的极其重要的作用。尽管人类从史前时期就开始在大海中旅行并探索未知的海域,但现代海洋学研究始于19世纪70年代英国的挑战者号远征。
- 由于大陆漂移,现今北半球几乎是被陆地和海洋平分(约2:3的比例),而南半球多是海洋 (约1:4.7的比例)。 开阔海域的海水盐分约为3.5%,不同的水域盐分有所不同。海水的固体组成约为85%为钠和氯。
- 以往海平面的變化留下了大陆棚,也就是靠近陸地,海水深度較淺的區域。此區域的海水有豐富的養份,因此可以滋養海洋生物,也是人類食物的來源之一,稱為海鮮。海鮮主要以魚為主,也包括貝類、海洋哺乳動物及海藻,可能是捕獲的,也可能是人工養殖。在熱帶珊瑚礁附近的海域是多樣性最高的區域。
