池塘又称为池溏，有地方方言又称为地塘。池塘是指比湖泊小的水體。界定池塘和湖泊的方法頗有爭議性。一般而言，池塘是小得不需使用船隻而多採竹筏渡過的。另一個定義則是可以讓人在不被水全淹的情況下安全橫過，或者水淺得陽光能夠直達塘底。池塘也可以指人工建造的水池。
無論如何，通常池塘都是沒有位於地面的入水口的。它們都是依靠天然的雨水、地下水源或以人工的方法引水進池。因為如此，池塘這個封閉的生態系統都跟湖泊有所不同。池水很多時都是綠色的，因為裡面有著很多藻類。
在亞洲，池塘常見於庭院之內；而在歐洲，池塘亦常見於城堡之中。
